In their first outing of the season, Rugby High School's boys and girls track teams both took first place at the CNDC Indoor meet last week at the Minot State University Dome.
The boys had a combined total of 139.5 points, the girls 141.
The meet saw Kaden Jaeger take first in the 55-meter dash, ending just fractions of seconds shy of the 2013 meet record time set in 2013 by former Panther runner Nigel Hageness. (The record was 6.39 seconds, Jaeger's time was 6.65 seconds.)
Jaeger also took second in pole vault and the 200-meter dash, and was part of the first place-finishing 4x160-meter relay team along with Dustin Herold, Nathan Livedalen and Cade Heilman. Livedalen would go on to take second in the long jump and third in triple jump. Heilman took fourth in the 200 dash.
The boys 4x800-meter relay team Jacob Blessum, Dawson Schepp, Warren Walker and Cole Wentz also got first place on the meet. Blessum and Schepp also took second place in the 800-meter and 3200-meter runs, respectively.
On the girls' side of things, the 4x400-meter relay team Maria Blessum, Kristina Brossart, Tristin Lunde and Anni Stier set a new meet record with a time of 4:24.37. Blessum, Stier and Brossart were also part of the second-place 4x160 team. Lunde was also part of the second-place 4x800 team, and took first in the 800 run.
Blessum also took first in pole vault.
Sara Stier, who was also part of the 4x160 team, took first in triple jump and second in long jump.
