The Bottineau-Rugby Braves got their third and fourth straight wins of the season last weekend at a holiday hockey tournament in Wadena, Minn.

In the first day of the tournament, the Braves first defeated the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 6-4. The Braves got to an early 3-0 lead due to an Ian Amsbaugh and Landon Rosendahl-assisted Riley Olson shot; a Gabe Clements shot (with assists from Wyatt Haakenson and Jace Scherr); and a shot from Evan Nelson (and Nic Costa with the assist.)

The Braves' lead continued into the next period. The Wolverines were able to get on the board at the 14:25 mark, with Andrew Sundby getting a shot on goal. The Braves struck back just seconds later with Scherr-with Clements' assistance-finding the net.

The Wolverines would get three goals in the third period, two of them coming from Max Phillips. The Braves would get another goal from Scherr to win.

The next day saw the Braves take on the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades and win, 8-7, in overtime.

Olson and Clements got the Braves on the board twice to start. Then the tables turned with Jase Jensen netting two goals to tie things up at the end of the first period.

The Blades then took the lead in the next chapter, with Jensen getting his third and fourth goals on the night, and Thomas Withuski and Isaac Wohlers scoring goals as well. Amsbaugh and Adam Handeland put goals up for the Braves, who found themselves trailing 6-4 going into the third period.

The Braves would get three goals in the third. Wohlers' late goal sent the game into overtime, where Haakenson would later win it for the Braves.

The Braves were on the road this weekend, playing in Jamestown last night and traveling to Mandan today (gametime 6:30 p.m. local time). Next action for the Braves include home games against Williston (5 p.m. Jan. 12) and Bismarck (7:15 p.m. Jan. 13) at the Bottineau Community Arena.
