The NRA Intercollegiate Rifle and Pistol Sectional matches, sponsored by North Dakota State University, were held at the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center in Fargo on Feb 3rd & 4th. At stake were invitations to compete in the national Intercollegiate Rifle & Pistol Club Championships to be held at Fort Benning, Georgia in March. Participating as collegiate athletes were Wolford Shooting Club alumni Madison Marchus and Hannah Walsh. Madison competed as an individual and as part of a 4-person team for the NDSU Marksmanship Club, while Hannah Walsh represented the University of North Dakota as an individual.

Pistol events where held on Saturday with Hannah competing in the Women's 10m Air Pistol, Women's Sport Pistol and the Open Individual 10m Air Pistol events. In the 40-shot Women's Air Pistol event, Hannah took the Bronze medal with a score of 352/400, a little off her state record of 360/400 a month earlier at the North Dakota Junior Olympic Championship. She continued the bronze-medal theme in the Women's Sport Pistol with a score of 511/600. The pistol competition ended with the 60-shot Open Individual 10M Air Pistol event where women and men compete together in a single competition. In this event, the results put Hannah's "UND" collegiate logo in the middle of a line of "NDSU" logos and ending the day in 5th place with a score of 528/600. Invitations to the championships at Ft. Benning, Georgia will be determined the end of February.

The rifle competitors took to the firing line on Sunday with athletes from NDSU, the University of Mary and Bismarck State College competing in the 10m Air Rifle event. Madison led the NDSU Marksman Club with a score of 558/600, which brought home the Silver Medal for NDSU in the individual event and qualified her to compete in the national championship. In the team event, NDSU won with an aggregate score of 2151/2400, which set a new NDSU Marksmanship Club record and also qualified them for the national championship to be held the weekend of March 23rd-25th.
