Volleyball moves on as Rugby excels

Area high school girls' volleyball teams powered through another week in their season with mixed results.

Rugby High School's Lady Panthers built on their victory over North Star last week as they defeated St. John in three games: 25-10 in the first, 25-12 in the second, and 25-14 in the final game.

Rugby's Brooke Blessum logged eight kills, and Anni Stier scored seven. Sarah Blessum scored 23 assists, while Maria Blessum and Sarah Blessum racked up four and two aces respectively. Maria Blessum tallied four digs, and Stier three.

St. John's Kendra Prouty scored six kills, and Madelyn Braunberger scored four. LaShai Bercier totaled 13 assists, while Kirsten Fleetwood earned two aces. Lexie Thibert finished the game with six digs and Maddison Tadeski finished with five.

Comets struggle against Bulldogs

The Wolford/Rolette Comets saw a struggle as they faced Rolla. The Lady Comets won games 1 and 4 of their 5 games against Rolla.

Wolford/Rolette's Emma Arnstein scored eight kills for the night and Maria Leonard scored seven kills. Baylee Mora logged 18 assists and one ace. Maria Leonard also scored one ace in the games. Breanna Boucher tallied five blocks, while Keiara Grant, Maria Leonard and Shelby Johnson logged 39, 33 and 20 digs, respectively.

Rolla High's kills went to Grace Neamyer (6), and Abby Bercier (5). Kyleigh Wilkes and Abby Bertsch each scored seven aces, while Maria Brien scored three blocks. Abby Bercier also scored one block.

Titans go 3-2 over Wildcats

Benson County High School also won games 1 and 4 in their 5 game series played against TGU.

Benson County's Desidy Schwanke led the kills column with 17, while Camee Wangler and Mallorie Sabo each scored 11. Camee Wangler scored 26 assists, and Zoe Lauckner came in with 23. Aces went to Zoe Lauckner (6); Kearyn Nelsen (4) and Mallorie Sabo (3). Mallorie Sabo scored totaled 17 digs, Desidy Schwanke had 14, and Maddy Severson scored 11. Kearyn Nelsen logged one block.

TGU kills went to Jaidyn Brummond (7), Melanie Anderson (6), and Mackenzie Woodall (4). Neeligh Wollenzien tallied 10 assists, and Emma Dragseth scored seven. Melanie Anderson logged four aces, while Allison Cross scored two. Allison Cross also scored four digs for the evening. TGU blocks went to Kathryn Dragseth (4), and Jaidyn Brummond and Mackenzie Woodall totaled two blocks each.
