Varsity girls cross country wins Beulah-Hazen invite

On the heels of a high rank in a coaches' poll the week prior, Rugby High School's girls varsity cross country team continued their dominance Tuesday at the Beulah-Hazen Invitational.

Led by a fourth place finish from Quinn Neppl (20:53), a seventh place finish from Brooklyn Bartsch (21:18) and a ninth place finish from Amelia Shepard (21:28), Rugby's varsity girls took first place with a combined score of 64. Rugby's varsity girls were also ranked no. 1 in Class B in a coaches poll dated Sept. 18.

Rounding out finishers for the girls varsity team on the meet were Keely Arnston (19th - 22:29); Ellie Duchscherer (25th - 23:02); Ella Jacobson (26th - 23:08); Mykell Heidlebaugh (30th - 23:22); Joey Wolf (36th - 23:49); Mikaylee Livedalen (39th - 24:13); Rylie Suchor (40th - 24:14); Megan Schmaltz (47th - 24:39); Kinsey Arnston (53rd - 24:49); Kristina Brossart (60th - 26:06); Mya Geisinger (61st - 26:07); Anna Clements (64th - 26:37) and Haley Mayer (68th - 27:17). Kendyl Hager did not finish.

The varsity boys took 10th place on the meet, and were led by Austin Dibble (15th - 18:20). Dawson Schepp was the next closest placer for the Rugby varsity boys with a 31st place finish (19:25). Rounding out the finishers for the varsity boys were Robert Dibble (67th - 21:08); Riley Odden (78th - 21:39); Kristian Fritz (112th - 23:46) and Trenton Sanford (135th -28:07).

The junior varsity girls took fourth, and were led by Ashlyn Dibble (13th - 14:20). Rounding out the finishers were Jaclyn Duchscher (26th - 15:14); Rylah Hager (29th - 15:23) and Mya McNeff (34th - 15:31).

The junior varsity boys took 10th. Finishers for the JV boys were Connor Klein (35th - 14:08); Maddex Kirchofner (50th - 15:01) and Ethan Sveet (51st - 15:02).

The cross country teams are competing today at the 25th annual Rugby Booster Club Invitational, which is at the Rugby Golf Course. The next action for the teams also includes the Harvey-Wells County Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. in Harvey.
